One of the best known young men of Crawfordsville died this morning at 5:30 o'clock at St. Vincent's hospital, Indianapolis of erysipelas after a short illness. He had not been feeling well for several days but on Thursday was taken very sick at his rooms in the Sherman Hotel where he has been living for 3 years and his friends thought it advisable to have him removed to St. Vincent Hospital and he was taken there early Thursday afternoon. He continued, to grow worse, however and died at the time stated above. Mr. Ensminger has been making his home in Indianapolis for the last 3 years, being identified with the Sherman Hotel and also being interested with friends in several political affairs. Harry Sheridan Ensminger was born in this city Aug 3, 1865, being the youngest son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Horace P. Ensminger, his father for a period of 20 years being the city marshal of Crawfordsville. His young manhood was spent in this city and he graduated from the public schools in 1883. He for many years was employed as a drug clerk by Locky Binford on the corner where the Crawford Hotel now stands. When RBF Pierce was made receiver of the Clover Leaf railroad Mr. Ensminger was made an assitant general passenger agent, which position he occupied for a number of years. He afterwards returned to Crawfordsville and engaged int he cigar business where Rowen Brothers are now located and was for a time manager of the Bell Telephone Co's business in this city. Before going to Indianapolis he was Republican County chairman for two terms and also city chairman during two campaigns. Mr. Ensminger was a membe rof the local lodge of Elks, being a pst exalted ruler of the lodge. There was probably not a better known young man in Crawfordsville than Hal Ensminger, and his sudden demise comes as a great shock to his friends. He was a man of generous impulse and even temper and prized highly the esteem of his acquaintances and friends, who were many. HIs father, mother, a brother and sister preceded him in death servearl years and he leaves but one brother, Charley Ensminger who is in the railroad business in Texas. He is a nephew of Dr. SL Ensminger and brother-in-law of Mrs. WE Nicholson of this city and cousin of Ora Ensminger. The arragnements for the funeral have not yet been perfect, but he will be buried in the family lot in Oak Hill Cemetery. A telegram from Charley Ensminger stated he would start for Indianapolis at once and expected to arrive there late Saturday evening. Unless the present arrangements are altered the body will be brought from Indianapolis Sunday morning and the funeral be held in the afternoon from the home of Mrs. WE Nicholson on West Main Street
